GETTING TO VILNIUS

Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania and one of the most charming cities in the Baltics, known for its baroque architecture, vibrant cultural scene, and UNESCO-listed Old Town. Nestled at the confluence of the Vilnia and Neris rivers, Vilnius offers a unique blend of historical elegance and modern innovation, making it a captivating destination for visitors from around the world.

How to Get to Vilnius?

By Plane

​Vilnius is served by Vilnius International Airport (VNO), located about 6 km south of the city center. It offers direct flights to major European cities and is the primary gateway to Lithuania.

Getting to the City Center:

  • By train: A direct train from the airport to Vilnius Central Station takes about 7 minutes.

  • By bus: Routes 3G, 1, and 88 connect the airport to various parts of the city.

  • By taxi: A ride to the center takes around 15–20 minutes.

  • By Bolt or Uber: Ride-sharing services are widely available and often more affordable than taxis.

By Train

Vilnius is connected by rail to other Baltic cities and Poland, though international train options are limited. Domestic trains run frequently to Kaunas, KlaipÄ—da, and Šiauliai.

​By Car

Vilnius is accessible via the A1 and A2 highways. Driving is straightforward, but parking in the Old Town can be limited. Public transport or walking is recommended once in the city center.

Public Transport

  • Vilnius offers an extensive and easy-to-navigate public transport system, including buses, express buses, and trolleybuses that connect all city districts.

  • Timetables are clearly displayed at each stop.

  • The Vilnius Citizens Card provides access to the entire network through a convenient electronic ticketing system.

  • TRAFI app is highly recommended—it integrates all transport options in real time and allows users to compare routes, prices, and schedules with just a few taps.

Cycling

Vilnius is increasingly bike-friendly, with dedicated lanes and the Cyclocity bike-sharing program. Electric scooters are also popular and available via apps like Bolt.

Taxis and Ridesharing

Taxis are available but can be pricey. Bolt is the most popular ride-sharing app and offers competitive rates.
